Goji, goji berry or wolfberry is the fruit of Lycium barbarum (Chinese: 寧夏枸杞 pinyin: Níngxià gǒuqǐ) and Lycium chinense (Chinese: 枸杞 pinyin: gǒuqǐ), two very closely related species of boxthorn in the family Solanaceae (which also includes the potato, tomato, eggplant, deadly nightshade, chili pepper, and tobacco). The two species are native to southeastern Europe and Asia.
There are many reasons to believe that the goji berry is beneficial to mankind. Experts and consumers believe that this berry can even grandly reverse the aging process. While this may seem a miracle, this exotic berry has been cherished for centuries in the Eastern countries while being practically unknown to the human species living in the Western hemisphere.
